• APPR: Canada

  Canada's Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR) set fixed compensation when a flight to, from or within Canada arrives 3 hours or more late, or is cancelled, for a reason within the airline's control that isn't required for safety.

• EU261: EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland

  Regulation (EC) 261/2004 gives fixed compensation for cancellations and, following the Court of Justice's Sturgeon ruling, for arriving 3 hours or more late. It also applies in Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

• UK261: United Kingdom

  The UK kept EU261 in its own law after Brexit (UK261), with compensation in pounds.

• US DOT: United States

  The US has no federal cash compensation for delays (DOT withdrew that proposal in November 2025). But since June 2024, if the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight and you don't accept the alternative or a credit, you're owed an automatic refund.

• SHY-YOLCU: Türkiye

  Türkiye's Air Passenger Rights Regulation (SHY-YOLCU), as amended in December 2024, sets compensation in euros, paid in Turkish lira.

• DGCA CAR: India

  India's DGCA rules (CAR Section 3, Series M, Part IV) give compensation for cancellations without proper notice. Delays get facilities such as meals, not cash compensation.

• ANAC: Brazil

  Brazil sets no fixed cash compensation. After a delay of more than 4 hours or a cancellation you choose rebooking, a refund or other transport, and the airline must provide assistance.

If none of these rules covers your flight, the Montreal Convention (Art. 19) may still let you claim proven costs caused by an international delay, up to 6,303 SDR per passenger, within 2 years.
