How to find forgotten subscriptions (and stop paying for them)

Most forgotten subscriptions hide in one of a few places: an app store, a big-tech account, a bill from your phone or internet company, or a card you forgot you'd used. Check these in order.
1. Check your app-store subscription lists
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions shows everything billed by Apple, including other companies' apps. Can't match a charge? Apple suggests searching your email for "receipt from Apple".
- Android: in Google Play, open Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Check every Google Account you use; uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
2. Check the big accounts
- Microsoft: account.microsoft.com/services lists Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft subscriptions. Sign in with the account you used to buy them.
- Amazon: Prime Video channels are billed separately from Prime and keep renewing even if you cancel Prime.
3. Look for partner billing
Services like Netflix, Spotify and Deezer can be billed through a phone, TV or internet provider. Netflix says that if you don't see a cancel option in your account, you're billed by a partner and must cancel with them; Spotify shows who bills you under Payment on its Manage your plan page.
4. Check the card, not just the account
Cancelling or replacing a card doesn't always stop a subscription. Canva notes that some banks keep recurring payments going on a new card through automatic card-update services, so the only reliable way to stop a charge is to cancel the subscription itself.
5. Make a list and cancel what you don't use
